2018 Alberta Conflict Resolution Day Workshop
In this one-hour session, we will discuss the topic of Confident Communication which is the ability to express positive and negative ideas and feelings in an open, honest and direct way. Confident Communication allows us to take responsibility for ourselves and our actions without judging or blaming other people and allows for a collaborative conversation. This interactive workshop will look at communication as way to empower you to develop boundaries with people, allowing you to have your needs met without pushing others away or allowing yourself to feel anger and resentment. The goal of Confident Communication is to develop an environment of collaboration and growth.
2017 Alberta Conflict Resolution Day Workshop
Have you ever found yourself perplexed at the way someone else interpreted something you said or did, and put a meaning on it that you never intended? Perhaps you have found yourself enraged by someone’s comment or action, and concluded that they must be acting against you for some reason?
You do it, I do it, we all do it...at some point everyone jumps to conclusions! Quickly and unconsciously we move from what we see to a conclusion without determining if and why our conclusions may be wrong. Learn about why we jump to conclusions, the dangers of doing so and a practical approach to stop you in your tracks, improve your decision-making and work better with others in your team, partnership, or network.

Calming Upset People
The 2015 topic focused on de-escalating emotionally charged situations. Based on the work of Bill Eddy*, the workshop had participants practice using empathy, attention, and respect (E.A.R) to calm people when they are angry or upset. Materials for Conflict Resolution Day 2015 were used with permission from Billy Eddy and the High Conflict Institute. Permission was granted specific to this event. However, for more information on the topic you can access the video below or go to http://highconflictinstitute.com/calming-upset-people-with-e-a-r Give Upset People Your E.A.R.
