Our Complimentary Workshop

Have you ever heard someone caution you not to discuss politics, religion, or other sensitive topics publicly? It’s true that these topics can inflame passions and even lead to conflict. This being said, these topics are important to people, and avoiding them can result in rifts and schisms in our social fabric leading to complex conflicts within ourselves, between people, or within groups. Rather than avoiding important topics, there is a better way to engage in a dialog that maintains respect, dignity and relationships. This year, we’re going learn how to:

- identify a situation or a circumstance that may lead or has led to a conflict and understand the elements
- using a tool, you will understand your conflict style and how it can affect the conflict outcome
- prepare and practice for a difficult conversation
- define next steps and follow up as needed (resolve manage, or mitigate)

Host a Presentation of Your Own
If you would like to host this presentation in your community or organization, the Conflict Resolution Alberta Planning Committee creates a training package for you. You choose your audience and location, we provide the content and a presentation materials for a 1.5 hour presentation that you can adapt and deliver to any audience. The focus is on offering practical information that gives participants a conflict resolution skill they can use right away. Any ADR practitioner or organization in Alberta is welcome to use these materials on Conflict Resolution Day to offer a free event within a department or organization, to clients, or to the public. Please note that the presentation materials are not for use for any other purpose.
