The theme this year - The Art of Listening
Looking to host an event? Every year the Conflict Resolution Alberta Planning Group creates a training package that is open for use to any ADR practitioner or organization wanting to spread the word about ADR. You choose your audience and location, we provide the content and a powerpoint for a 1.5 hour presentation that you can adapt and deliver to any audience. The focus is on offering practical information that gives participants a conflict resolution skill they can use right away.
This year's theme, The Art of Listening. The presentation will cover the following objectives:
What communication skill could be more basic than listening? We spend more time listening than any activity except breathing, yet we listen at only a fraction of our potential. We believe ourselves good listeners but what if we could improve? The workshop will highlight the seven “Laws of Good Listening” and will illustrate the surprising value of attentive silence, the need to find something of interest in the person speaking, the importance of staying out of the speaker’s way, and the role of body language in listening. Each “law” is a key toward improved listening and communication and you will leave with practical skills that you can implement immediately to improve your communications with others!
If you are interested in facilitating this year’s workshop in your area, join us for a Train-the Trainer workshop will be offered on October 1, 2020, from 6:00-8:00 pm. To register, please email info@conflictresolutionday.ca (registration is mandatory).
Any ADR practitioner or organization in Alberta is welcome to use these materials on Conflict Resolution Day to offer a free event within a department or organization, to clients, or to the public. Please note that the presentation materials are not for use for any other purpose.
